Biography

WATERTOWN – Robert C. Gillette Sr., 59, of Woodbury Road, died unexpectedly Tues., June 8, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Gillette was born in Waterbury, September 2, 1950, son of Christine (Butterfield) Gillette of Watertown and the late Arthur R. Gillette. He received his Master’s Degree in business from Mattatuck Community College and was the manager of Town Fair Tire in Waterbury. He was a die-hard Yankees fan; enjoyed fishing, bowling, and camping; but his true passion was his granddaughters. He was a loving and devoted grandfather.
Besides his mother, he leaves his son, Robert C. Gillette Jr. and his wife, Synthia, of New Milford; his daughter, Stacey Gillette and her fiancé, Ed Donahue, of Thomaston; three brothers, Dennis Gillette of Torrington, Fred Gillette of Oakville, and Bruce Gillette of Southbury; a sister, Laura Lambion of Washington State; his longtime friend, Cheryl Zuzick of Naugatuck; his former wife, Deborah Elward of Naugatuck; three granddaughters, Marissa Gillette, Reagan Donahue, and Makayla Gillette; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was welcomed in heaven by his twin granddaughters, Ellery and Alexa.
Graveside services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, North Street, Watertown, with Reverend Larry Elward presiding. Friends may greet the family Friday evening 5-8 p.m. at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown.
