Biography

Waterbury: Verna (Gorton) Mitchell, 81 of Heritage Dr. passed away Sunday at her home. She was the wife of Robert F. Mitchell.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Scranton, Pa October 17, 1928 daughter of the late John and Violette (Peat) Gorton. She was raised in Scranton and had lived in Waterbury and Watertown for most of her life.

Besides her husband she leaves 2 daughters; Barbara Ventresca and he husband Walter of Naugatuck and Linda Manchester and her husband James of Belle Mead NJ; 2 sisters: Lillian Eckstrom of Bristol and Betty Abita of Albrightsville, Pa; 3 grandchildren Scott, Robert, and Dawn Coburn and 2 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter Kathleen Branco.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 29th at 11:00am at the Hickcox Funeral Home 195 Main St Watertown. Burial will follow in St James Cemetery Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
